Meet the Pastor:

Tom Fisk
Rev. Tom Fisk

Hello There.
My name is Rev. Tom Fisk, and since early 2026 I’ve been so blessed to be the Minister of Southborough Lane Baptist Church.

I am married to Cassie and together we have four wonderful sons who make us smile every day. We also have two cats.

We have moved to Petts Wood from the Kent Coast, where I was Minister at a local Baptist Church for five years upon completing my ministry training. We have been so welcomed and enveloped by the church family and local community. We love it here and know it is right for us and that God has great things in store.

I became a Christian as a teenager. I grew up in a Christian home but made my own step of faith at the Boys’ Brigades’ former national festival ‘Firm Foundations’, responding to God’s ‘tap on my shoulder’ after a talk on John 3 and became a Christian. I love God’s Word and my favourite Bible Verse is Micah 6:8; 'He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God'.

I felt a call to ministry in my early twenties and in 2017, with God’s guidance, I took the step and began training with Spurgeons College and Canterbury Baptist Church to become a Baptist Minister. And God has been so faithful throughout.

When I’m not at church or being a parent, I enjoy football and am a West Ham fan, I also play squash and padel as well as having a love/hate relationship with running.

On the very rare evening we get to go out, Cassie and I love a trip to the cinema to see an action or superhero film. As a family we love a good holiday and have been to France and the Netherlands in recent years. We also love to visit zoos, theme parks and the theatre together.

We’re so excited to get to know everyone here at SLBC and the wider community and hope to add to the amazing things already happening here.

If you have any more questions or queries about the church, do drop me an email at tom@slbc.org.uk.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at Southborough Lane Baptist Church for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. When you arrive, you should be greeted by our friendly Welcome Team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The service begins at 10:30am and includes a time of All-Age worship before the children leave to go to their age appropriate groups. This is followed by a time of singing, led by our musicians. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the Bible. Other times people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it, but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a talk that is Bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We usually then finish with a final song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free of charge.

What about my children?

You should bring your children into the church with you for the beginning of the service and they will all go out together when announced. We have a programme lined up for children of different ages:

  • Babies and young toddlers (0 months to 3 years). Young children are welcome to stay in the church with you or if you feel more comfortable, parents can go into our front hall and watch the service live on our screen.
  • Paddlers (3-7 years)
  • Funday Morning (7-11 years)
  • Funday Morning + (11-15 years)
  • Young people (15+ years) Stay in service.

You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

The children's group activities vary depending on the age. As well as a friendly welcome, the session will include Bible stories, praying, music, craft, drama and fun games. Please pick up your children as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small Connect Groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet at different times (mornings, afternoons and evenings), throughout the week. We can put you in touch with a Connect Group leader who will be more than happy to tell you about their group and invite you along.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church, you can sign up to serve on a team.
